What's New at Labyrinth: 5/4/2018
May the Fourth be with you, everybody! It would be extremely convenient to have some new Star Wars products to announce today, but sadly there are not. Here's what we do have:
Have you ever dreamed of a simpler life? In Altiplano, players take on the roles of herders, miners and farmers in the South American Highlands. But the rustic life isn't as simple as you might hope-Altiplano is an in-depth game of competitive economics! Players buy and sell different kinds of goods, develop infrastructure, and try and diversify their operations to be the most successful merchant of the Altiplano plateau. If you like games of commercial strategy--or just llamas--this is the game for you.
Lorenzo il Magnifico: Houses of Renaissance
Houses of Renaissance is an expansion to the game of patronage and politics, Lorenzo il Magnifico. It adds the components to support a fifth player, along with 20 new leaders and a new mechanic: powerful House abilities. These additions create a more variable and diverse game, with many different paths to victory. A worthy pickup for any Lorenzo fan.
Cheeky Monkey Returns!
The relentlessly popular push-your-luck game in an adorable plush case is back! Cheeky Monkey is popular with all ages and a great game to play on the go. It's a consistent favorite at both our afterschool classes and Boozy Board Game Night. Come try it; you won't be disappointed.
For fans of art history, Manifesto is an excellent grab. With fifty-two beautiful portrait cards of iconic artists, players must group them into their respective schools of artistic thought. Each card also comes with a biography of its artist for extra educational value.
Wonderland is a quick-playing two-player card game that sees the players vye for control of the eponymous Wonderland as Alice and the Red Queen. Players build a map by placing cards, strategically taking control of critical areas. Magic items modify the value of terrain, keeping players on their toes until the very end.
Netrunner: Whispers in Nalubaale
Whspers in Nalubaale is the latest entry in the Kitara cycle, which sees runners and corps fighting for control of the rising Lake Victoria orbital elevator. In the shadows of the Sub-Saharan African League, anarchist runners, virus-building corps and even nascent AI all scrabble for power. Adding three copies of twenty new cards, this pack is a great addition for any faction.
That's all for this week. Check back in next week for another shift of What's New At Labyrinth!
