What's New At Labyrinth 8/15/19

Good luck to all those competing in the Pokemon World Championships this weekend! If you're looking, we have plenty of Unified Minds boxes and packs at the ready.
For everyone not competing (or who missed out on getting a badge to the sold out event), come check out what's new in stock!

Bargain Quest + The Black Market Expansion

This game has been hotly anticipated! Take on the role of a shopkeeper in a fantasy setting where adventuring heroes are looking for the best items to defeat the monsters around town. Draft your items, show off your wares in the window, and earn prestige when heroes use the wares they bought from you to defeat their foes!

Space Base: Command Station

This new expansion for Space Base adds components for 2 new players (up to 7), and adds "pre-deployed" ship cards to adjust for balance and gameplay with more than five players. The box is also large enough to hold the original Space Base, the Shy Pluto expansion, and future expansions as well!

L.L.A.M.A. Card Game

L.L.A.M.A. is a fun Uno-like game for 2-6 players. Players use a hand of cards numbered 1-6 with llama cards that go in-between 6 and 1. Play cards to a pile that are either minus 1, plus 1, or equal to the current card showing and try to get rid of all your cards! If you get stuck with them you gain that many points (though multiples of the same card are just counted as one card!) and the first player to 40 points ends the game. Have the fewest points and you win!

Dragonrealm

Dragonrealm takes the ideas found in Dragonwood and expands upon them. Players will attempt to explore and capture various locations using card sets and straights (by color or number) to roll the most dice they can to attempt to place adventurers in a location. Once a location is full, you score it, and the player with the most points after a certain number of locations (depending on number of players) wins!

DC Deck Building Game: Rebirth

Rebirth is a new evolution of the DC Deck-Building Game, breaking fresh ground by adding linked Campaign Scenarios, character progression, and movement between iconic locations from the DC Universe! Position matters! Players must move their characters around the board to find the cards they want for their deck and to interfere with the Villain’s dastardly plans. When you defeat a Villain, you get a reward, and the Villain is removed from the game. Staying close to your allies will allow them to play Assist cards to help you during your turn.

Passtally

In passtally, you take turns placing tiles on the game board to create a line connecting your player markers. The more tiles the line passes through, and the higher those tiles are stacked, the more points you score!

What The Heck?

To win this game, you'll need to read your opponents' minds--when you figure out which card they're about to play you'll have your chance to win. On each turn, players flip over a point card and compete to take it (if it's a positive number) or avoid it (if it's a negative number). The catch is that everyone starts with the same cards, so you'll need to psyche out your opponents and play your cards carefully. But if you guess wrong and tie with another player, you both miss out. It's a game filled with highs . . . and lows.

BACK IN STOCK

Letter Tycoon

In the game, players take turns forming a word using a seven-card hand and a three-card community card pool, scoring money and stock rewards based on their word. Players may use their earned money to buy one letter "patent" in the word they make. In the future, whenever another player uses one of your owned letters on their turn, you earn money from the bank. Letters that are used less frequently have special abilities, increasing their power. When enough of the alphabet has been claimed, players finish the current turn, then score all money, stock and letter patents owned. Create the most valuable empire and you can become the letter tycoon!

What's New At Labyrinth 8/6/19

A massive thank you to all who came out last week to make our Celebration of Gaming Week such a success! But just because it's over doesn't mean there aren't any new games to celebrate. Come check out these new titles!

Mountains

In Mountains, you will undertake hikes of various difficulty, making sure you have the proper equipment or otherwise borrowing it from other players with favor tokens. Each hike will reward you with favor tokens, summit stamps, or both! The player with the most summit stamps at the end of the game wins.

Band of Blades

This military fantasy RPG is set in the same universe as the critically acclaimed Blades in the Dark. The Legion is in retreat following a failed battle against the armies of the undead. You are a member of the Legion, your bonds to one another forged in the dark by bone and blood. But time is running out as more fall to the indomitable forces of the Cinder King. As Legionnaires, you must make it to Skydagger Keep before you’re cut off or overtaken by the undead. Paying horrifying costs, you’ll employ offensives, maneuvers, unwise bargains, and desperate gambits as the ever-ticking clock nears its final hour. Do you have what it takes to outwit, outrun, and outlast the endless hordes of the undead, or will your band of blades break beneath the Cinder King’s iron fist?

Underwater Cities

The earth is overpopulated. As one of the best scientific brains in the world, you have been tasked with creating the best and most livable underwater city possible. Play cards in color coded slots to intake raw materials; to build and upgrade city domes, tunnels and production buildings such as farms, desalination devices and laboratories in your personal underwater area; to move your marker on the initiative track (which is important for player order in the next turn); to activate your "A-cards"; and to collect cards, both special ones and basic ones that allow for better decision possibilities during gameplay. Gain the most victory points to win!

Tricks and the Phantom

Tricks and the Phantom is a simple deduction game using only ten (or eleven) cards with a little bluffing element. Deduce the culprit from among the four persons. However, there may be a "phantom" who attempts to confuse you. In the base game, ten cards are dealt to four players, so players have hands of only two or three cards. As in a trick-taking game, each player plays one card face down in turn order. While doing this, each player forecasts who has the highest card (that is, the culprit). Each card has a color (suit), and you have to show that color when you play the card; this allows opponents to narrow down the number of your card, but some cards have a special effect, so big numbers don't win automatically. Points are awarded to whoever played the highest card (the culprit) and to whoever correctly forecasted that player winning. Tricks and the Phantom is not just card luck. It is a strategy inference game that requires you to read each other's psychology.

Imhoptep: The Duel

In this two-player version of Imhotep, players take on the competing roles of Nefertiti and Akhenaten. Use six boats to unload the most valuable tiles and build monuments to gain as many fame points as possible!

Processing

Processing is a game of terrible democracy. Aliens have conquered Earth, but that's not the worst of it. As a survivor, you've been enslaved to figure out who gets "Processed," "Probed," and "Freed." There's one more wrinkle, the Aliens think cows are people too. The Confederated Alien Overlords (or CAO's) demand you work to appease them all, but since they all want different things that will be tough. Your goal is to have the most victory points (VPs) by the end of the game (three rounds) by appealing to different alien agendas each round.

Patchwork Doodle

Patchwork Doodle is a roll-and-write version of Patchwork, with each player having their own 9x9 grid to fill in over the course of the game. Each player sets up by drawing a unique polyomino card from the starting deck, then drawing that on their sheet. In each round, players lay out a number of polyomino cards in a circle, then place the rabbit between two cards. On a turn, someone rolls the die, moves the rabbit forward, then removes the card indicated by the rabbit. Each player must draw the polyomino indicated on this card in their grid. Once a certain number of cards have been played, the round ends, players score points, then you lay out more cards for the next round.

Deadly Doodles

In this quick-playing doodle game, 1–4 players simultaneously draw paths through a dangerous dungeon. Draw cards, draw a path through your dungeon, and rack up points! Collect loot and fight monsters . . . or run away screaming! Can you defeat the dragon for the big score?

Dizzle

In Dizzle, players want to fill their scorecards with dice collected each round. Players take turns selecting dice from the center of the table, and the next die they collect must match the others. At the end of a round, mark all boxes on your scorecard filled with dice. This might sound simple, but of course others will compete for the dice you need...

5211

The name of the game tells you everything! Players start with 5 cards in hand, play 2 and reveal both, then fill up their hand and repeat twice, but only revealing 1 card each time. 5-2-1-1. Players earn points depending on the majority color, but if there's too many of that color, it busts and is worth nothing. Rounds repeat until the deck runs out, and whichever player earns the most points wins!

BACK IN STOCK

Lisboa

On November 1, 1755, Lisbon suffered an earthquake of an estimated magnitude of 8.5–9.0, followed by a tsunami and three days of fires. The city was almost totally destroyed. The King put the Marques of Pombal in charge of the reconstruction of Lisbon. The Marques gathered a team of engineers and architects and you, the players, are members of the nobility; members who will use your influence in the reconstruction and business development of the new city. You will work with the architects to build Lisbon anew, with the Marquis to develop commerce and with the King to open all the buildings, but the true reason you do all this is not for greatness or fame or even fortune, but for the most important thing of all in that time: wigs.

Baseball Highlights 2045

In this quick and interactive game, two players build their teams as they play, combining both strategy (building your team) and tactics (playing the game) without any of the downtime. During each "mini-game", each player alternates playing six cards to simulate a full game's highlights. The mini-game includes defensive and offensive actions, and your single card play may include elements of defensive and/or offensive plays. Do you try to thwart your opponent's pending hits, put up strong offensive action of your own, or use your better players to do both? Players buy new free agents after each mini-game to improve their roster, and the team who wins the most mini-games in the series is the champ!

What's New At Labyrinth: GenCon Edition!

We've got a boatload of new releases ahead of GenCon, so come stop by the store to try out the new demos and take home some new games!

Pathfinder 2nd Edition

Pathfinder remains the one role playing game to knock D&D out of the #1 best seller spot since it was released in 1974, and did so for 3 years (2011-2014). Now, 10 years after it was first published, Pathfinder is getting a 2nd edition to make another run at the #1 title.

Ticket to Ride 15th Anniversary Edition

Ticket to Ride is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year with a special edition that comes with translucent train cars, a booklet detailing the history of the game, and new box artwork. If you haven't played this 2004 Spiel de Jahres (Game of the Year) winner which continues to remain a hit family game, now's the perfect time to get in on it!

Star Trek: Chrono-Trek

In Star Trek Chrono-Trek, a time-travel game similar to Chrononauts but set in the Star Trek universe, each player becomes a Star Trek character with a unique identity and a secret mission. During the game, players travel backwards and forwards through history, doing all those things people have always dreamed of using time travel to do: Visiting the great moments of the past, peeking into the future, collecting up artifacts, coming to grips with the paradoxes of time travel, and of course, changing pivotal events and altering the course of history itself. Explore the history (and alternate history!) of the entire Star Trek universe in this version of Chrononauts. Try to alter history to restore your specific timeline! Maybe you need to ensure that the Federation gets founded, or just retrieve the Orb of Time and some tea. Earl Grey. Hot.

Hadara

Hadara carries you off into the world of cultures and countries of this earth. Over three epochs, you will experience the transformation of your new world from a small settlement to a high culture. You want to populate this world with people who come from different cultures and continents as well as different ages. To bring glory and honor to your world, you should choose the persons and accomplishments skillfully. But you should not ignore agriculture, culture, and military power, otherwise one of your competitors might get bigger and more successful than you. Who will succeed first in creating a new flourishing high culture?

Escape the Dark Castle

Escape the Dark Castle is a simple, cooperative game of retro-atmospheric adventure. Players take on the roles of prisoners, wrongfully incarcerated in the depths of The Dark Castle. Whether it’s the Abbot, the Tailor or any of the six playable characters, each prisoner is represented by a character card and a custom character dice showing that prisoner’s unique endowment of Might, Cunning and Wisdom – the game’s three traits. Embarking on a desperate quest to escape, the players must work together using custom dice and item cards to overcome the castle’s many horrors, traps, and challenges.

Point Salad

Point Salad is a fast and fun card drafting game for the whole family. There are over 100 ways to score points. Players may use a variety of strategies and every game of Point Salad is unique! Cards come in six different types of veggies, and the back of each card has a different scoring method. So for instance, one scoring method may award 2 points for every carrot you have, but deduct a point for every onion. By drafting combinations of veggies and point cards that work for your strategy, you can amass the most points and win.

Curios

You are a rogue archaeologist, traveling the world for history’s lost artifacts. But the market for artifacts can shift like the rains of Africa: One minute, treasures from a lost pharaoh’s pyramid are all the rage with collectors, and the next minute religious artifacts discovered in a remote temple are what’s in demand. In Curios, players acquire artifacts from various treasure sites without knowing their worth. Using the cards in your hand and those revealed by others, you can deduce the possible value of your artifacts, allowing you to focus your efforts on the more profitable ventures. Curios is a game of worker placement, deduction, and bluffing like no other. This simple and intuitive game is quick to learn and even quicker to play!

Walking in Burano

Burano is a beautiful island of Venice in Italy, known for its colorful houses. The colorful houses of Burano need a fresh coat of paint in order to stay beautiful and vivid. Use your creativity to refurbish and decorate the houses and amaze the tourists and local people with your masterpiece! Walking in Burano is a family game. Players place Floor Cards in order to receive a visit from different characters. They will score points based on the various symbols on the houses, and whoever gets the most points is the winner!

Smash Up World Tour: Culture Shock

The World Tour continues! Culture Shock takes us through the folk and fairy tales of: Russia, where minions are frequently transformed; West Africa, where sharing stories and cards is valued; and Germany, where uniting characters from the same tale gives multiple benefits. We also look at the incredible histories of: the Inca Empire, known for its roads and monumental architecture; and Polynesians, who spread out on as many islands as possible. Culture Shock is fully compatible with all previous Smash Up expansions.

Lord of the Rings LCG: A Shadow in the East

As the start of the Vengeance of the Mordor cycle, A Shadow in the East takes you to the lands of Rhûn that rest in the shadow of Sauron’s domain. Here, you must embark on a new quest through three original scenarios built from 156 cards, including two heroes, ten quest cards, 29 player cards, and 115 encounter cards that pit you against the forces of Mordor and the corrupted souls who long for the dark days of Sauron’s rule to return.

In the game Copenhagen, players must design new façades for these houses so that they fit seamlessly into this beautiful harbor setting. By using the cards on displays, players receive the corresponding façade polyomino tiles, with which they beautify their houses. Overbuilding certain spaces and floors gives them additional skills for the rest of the game. Floors that consist of a pure window front are particularly rewarding and bring the players many points.

To do so, you have to draft dino meeples and place them in pens that have some placement restrictions. What's New At Labyrinth 7/17/19

It's hot out there! Come inside to take advantage of our A/C and check out some new games while you're at it!

Shadowrun: Sixth World RPG

In the year 2080, the world is run by megacorporations that only have their own interests in mind. A group of subversive mercenaries known as Shadowrunners thrive in the shadows. Whether they're hacking sensitive information, finding lost treasures, or (for the right amount) even taking out targets as assassins...is up to you. Mixing traditional magic systems with futuristic tech, Shadowrun is the perfect setting for your campaigns that need a little fantasy mixed in to the sci-fi.
Game of Thrones LCG: Beneath the Red Keep

In this fourth installment of the King's Landing cycle, Beneath the Red Keep gives you the chance to focus your deck around the shadow keyword with unparalleled flexibility with the new agenda, Kingdom of Shadows (Beneath the Red Keep, 79). As characters from across the world gather in buzzing metropolis of King’s Landing, Kingdom of Shadows lets you include non-loyal characters from any faction in your deck, as long as they bear the shadow keyword. You are free to forge alliances with any schemer who will further your plans, creating synergy between multiple Houses and covering any weaknesses.

Legend of the Five Rings LCG: Bonds of Blood

Bonds of Blood is the second pack in the Inheritance Cycle. The Inheritance cycle sees Rokugan splinter like never before and places the emphasis on Bushi and Courtiers, as well as introducing the Disguised mechanic, which allows iconic samurai to remain hidden in the shadows until the perfect moment. Bonds of Blood includes a prolific Phoenix Shugenja, new provinces for the Lion and Unicorn, a deadly new Poison card for the Scorpion, and more!

Gandhi

Gandhi: The Decolonization of British India, 1917–1947 is Volume IX in GMT’s acclaimed COIN Series. Exploring one of the world’s most prominent experiments with nonviolent resistance, Gandhi takes us to the subcontinent of India, the jewel in the crown of the British Empire, for a detailed look at the final decades of the British Raj. 1 to 4 players compete to determine the future of India; will the transition to home rule be a peaceful one, will India be split apart by partition or civil war, or will it remain firmly in the grip of empire? Gandhi offers a fresh perspective on the history of insurgency with the addition of a new type of faction to the COIN Series, the Nonviolent (NV) faction, while retaining the multi-faction, asymmetrical, card-assisted system of earlier titles in the COIN Series. COIN veterans will be able to jump right in.

Corinth

Corinth is a roll-and-write game where you are an ambitious merchant. Send your faithful steward to the market, deliver goods to the most prestigious shops, erect buildings to help your business grow and become the most well known among your peers… You only have a few weeks to secure your place in Corinthian lore as its most savvy trader! In this game, you will need to pay close attention to what your opponents are doing and choose between taking the best option for you or making sure your opponents don’t get theirs…

Wobble King

King Leo is guarding his huge treasure of valuable silver. Unfortunately he's somewhat lazy, and he dozes off now and then. His dozing opens up the opportunity for players to attempt to skillfully snatch King Leo's valuable silver nuggets from underneath the board without him noticing. In Wobble King you use a wooden stick to try to retrieve at least one silver nugget from underneath the game board, after which you place the silver nugget(s) on the round spaces at the edge of the game board. If the game boards tilts so that at least one edge touches the table or the lion tips over, the player must take a tomato tile. Get too many tomatoes and it's game over!

A Bunch of Dice!

We got a bunch of new dice sets, and a restock of others, so come check out the new selection!
