What's New At Labyrinth: 5/24/19

What's New At Labyrinth: 5/24/19
It's been a windy week! Shelter from the storm and check out some of our new arrivals here:

Ghosts of Saltmarsh

Dastardly pirates, deadly mermen, danger on the high seas--Ghosts of Saltmarsh has it all and more. The latest published campaign setting for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, Ghosts of Saltmarsh compiles 7 classic D&D adventures from the last 40 years, updated for 5th Edition and united by a common nautical theme. The sleepy fishing town of Saltmarsh serves as a unifying hub for these adventures, and your actions will determine its fate.

Bunny Kingdom in the Sky
The leporine game of kingdom building, Bunny Kingdom, has returned with a new expansion: Bunny Kingdom in the Sky! This deluxe expansion adds an entirely new game board, the Great Cloud, a realm of rainbows and giant beanstalks in the sky. In addition to this new magical land, this expansion adds new mechanics, resources, supplies for a fifth player, and a trading system that allows you to approach the game in new ways. Your kingdom won't build itself--hop to it!

 Mesozooic
If you've ever watched Jurassic Park and thought: "I could have designed this better!", Mesozooic is the game for you. In this real-time drafting game, players fight to build the best park by drafting and arranging a series of exhibit cards, maintenance cards, and monorail cards. Careful and quick design is required if you want to shut out the competition! A quick game that can play a wide range of players (2-6) this is a versatile game for any group.

Amazing Tales
Amazing Tales is a new RPG system designed to be played by and with young children. With simple rules even a 4-year old can understand, and tips for how to deal with the specific problems of running a game for children (short attention spans, etc), this product is perfect for parents who want to start their kids off easy in RPGs.

Ultramodern5
Ultramodern5 is a third-party supplement for 5th Edition D&D, adding rules and content for a non-fantasy version of the d20 game we all know and love. If you've ever wanted to play D&D without the magic, Ultramodern5 has supporting rules for a variety of settings, from pre-modern to the distant future. This is a supplemental product, so the base Dungeons and Dragons books are required.

Dungeon World
Dungeon World is a loving take on the "dungeon fantasy" genre of RPGs, utilizing the excellent and streamlined Powered by the Apocalypse system. These rules cut down on at-table litigation, and instead allow the players and GM to move directly to the action. With lots of tools for players and GMs alike, Dungeon World is an excellent alternative to D&D for groups looking for a smoother play experience.

Burning Wheel is a deep, richly detailed, award-winning RPG system that brings mechanical depth and focus to an often-neglected area of the game: the character's arc. While there are players in every RPG who love coming up with rich and detailed backstories, often these are relegated to window dressing, with no mechanical impact on the game. But in Burning Wheel, the events of the game are inseparably intertwined with the past of the characters. Your scars, acquaintances, failures and successes will inform your abilities and motivations moving forward. Burning Wheel: Gold Revised is an excellent game, bound into a gorgeous 600-page book. Highly recommended for any group willing to try something new.

Atmar's Cardography
Finally, we've gotten in a handy set of GM tools: Atmar's Cardography is a series of map packs for RPG scenarios, made up of modular cards! Each card has a room, and by piecing them together in your desired order, you can assemble hundreds of distinct locations, while being able to pack the whole thing up into a box that fits in your pocket. With five different themes, this is a handy addition to any GM's arsenal.

What's New at Labyrinth: 5/17/19
It's hot outside! As the swampy summer  closes in, cool off by dropping by Labyrinth and seeing our new arrivals! Take a look:
Mystic Vale: Harmony
Mystic Vale, the groundbreaking card-crafting game, returns once more with the Harmony expansion. With new advancement and vale cards, such as amulets and leader abilities, Harmony will advance the complexity of your game a step further. Requires the base game Mystic Vale to play.

Miniatures: Townspeople & Accessories
We've gotten in a giant box of assorted miniatures! Shelves, stalls, tools, tables, and all the random townsfolk your heart desires. Bring the world to life with this set of miniatures!

Kitty Paw
Kitty Paw is a game of speed and dexterity. Players, one-handed, compete to swipe and arrange tiles to match the patterns their cat (card) demands! It happens in real time, so swipe fast and be ready to shout "Meow!" when you finish!

Atlantis Escape
Atlantis Escape is the first of several new logic puzzles we've gotten in. Trapped in a tall tower, you must carefully coordinate the stairs and platforms available to make your way to the exit. An excellent challenge for players 7 and up.

Air Land & Sea
After some months away, Air, Land & Sea returns to Labyrinth. This 2-player wargame requires you to carefully balance the commitment of your forces. Don't be afraid to retreat--strategy sometimes demands it! The more astute commander who claims 12 victory points first wins.

Iron Curtain
Another returning 2-player favorite, Iron Curtain allows players to battle through the Cold War in 20 minutes or less. Each round, choose one card to play, each with political consequences--blocking Cuba, for example, or influencing Africa. After 9 rounds, the winner is decided! With simple rules but a deep strategy, Iron Curtain is great game for new gamers and hold hands alike.

Channel A
Channel A is another entry into the pitch-style genre of games, often popular as party games or icebreakers. In Channel A, players need to pitch their own ideas for a new anime, assembling the title out of several word cards from their hand. Improvise a decent pitch and the round's judge will award you a win! Fast, goofy, and low-investment fun.

Brain Train
A simple logic puzzle for our very youngest players. In Brain Train, kids have to carefully arrange the cargo to fit into the train cars' slots. The large pieces and brightly colored trains make this an excellent gift for young players.

Conflicting Legends
Rock-Paper-Scissors like you've never seen it before! Conflicting Legends is a card game where players fight for world domination via rock-paper-scissors. Seems arbitrary? Well, each player also has a hand of legendary folks like Napoleon Bonaparte, Frieda Kahlo, and Einstein, who have special abilities to influence the game! Goofy, fast, and fun.

What's New At Labyrinth: 5/10/19

What's New At Labyrinth: 5/10/19
Don't let the rainy weather get you down. Come by Labyrinth and check out our new stuff!

Godsforge
Godsforge is a brand-new, exciting game of magic and combat. Long ago, the world of Etherium was peaceful and prosperous, with a boundless source of magic fueling the lifestyles of the populace. Now, however, only one such source remains: The Godsforge. The people of Etherium war for its control, and you, the players, will decide the fate of the battle. Players take turns simultaneously, attacking the player to their left and defending to their right. Strategy, wits and speed are required to win!

Paperback
Paperback is back! This deck-building, word-crafting favorite has been out of the store for a few months, so we're glad to announce its return. Play as struggling novelists and piece together words to earn yourself some cash. Spend your money to improve your repertoire and build more valuable works. To be the remembered as the greatest author demands ambition and skill!

Gimme Gimme Guinea Pigs
Gimme Gimme Guinea Pigs is a goofy, high-speed game of critter collection. Play takes place in real-time as everyone races to collect 7 cards of the same suit (represented by animals), discarding cards they don't want and grabbing the discards from other players. The player who wins the race announces their victory by bellowing, "GOT 'EM!"

Whozit?
Whozit is a wacky party game of profiling and judgement. Each round, one of six characters -- some real, some fictional, running the gamut from Sherlock Holmes to Lady Gaga -- is secretly picked by the round judge to be the subject of the game. The judge will then rate the subject on two qualities, and everyone will try and puzzle out who is the subject! A goofy, fun party game.

1830: Railways & Robber Barons
The classic game of cutthroat business and steam trains has returned to Labyrinth. Originally published in 1986, 1830 is a modern classic in the truest sense. Trade stocks and fight for control of the industry. Only one can become the ruler of the rails!

Blink
Blink purports to be the world's fastest card game, and it makes a strong case for itself. Players compete in real time, trying to slam down cards into the discard pile before the opponent can. Cards can be played if they match the discard pile in color or shape or number. The first to empty the draw pile and their hand wins!

And that's all for this week. Check back in next week for more What's New at Labyrinth!
