New Arrivals 2/9/2016 to 2/23/2016

by Alexander "Turning the Nucleotides" Smith

TransAmerica is a route-building game for 2-6 players where you'll have to connect five cities across the United States by placing down railroad track. Unlike another similar game, Ticket to Ride, you'll be able to use the tracks laid down by opponents, so make sure you're not giving someone else the perfect route to victory!

Peptide: A Protein Building Game is a drafting game for 2-6 players where your goal is to assemble the highest scoring amino acids in your peptide chain. All the cards are visible to each player, so you'll be able to make informed decisions on what you want for yourself and what you don't want your friends to have. Each card can be used as either another link in your chain or as an action, so you'll never be stuck with something useless. If you're into science, gaming, or gaming science, give Peptide a shot!

In Ion: a Compound Building Game, you and up to six of your friends will draft elements that you will be able to bond with other elements in order to make compounds. You can take action tiles to change the way you play, but each action tile carries with it a point penalty at the end of the game. See for yourself if you can synthesize the target compounds and emerge victorious.

I think I can safely say that Linkage is the best DNA transcription game out there, bar none. Well, I haven't heard of any other DNA transcription games, but that doesn't stop Linkage from being surprisingly fun. At it's core, this is a pattern game where 2-4 players take turns trying to match a target DNA pattern. Players can add cards to their side to try to complete the pattern, change an opponent's cards, or even mutate the target DNA. The fewer cards you use, the more points you earn, so being efficient is key.

Back Spin is the Oppenheim Award-winning double-sided puzzle where your goal is to return each of the balls to a matching-colored slot. It isn't as easy as it sounds though, because you must swap balls one at a time by rotating the slots on either side of the puzzle. Only one space is open at any given time, making this puzzle quite the challenge. We opened one up so you can try it for yourself... if you can get Kathleen to put it down, that is!

Yu-Gi-Oh! Wing Raiders is the latest expansion for the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game. In this set, you'll find new cards for the Bujin, Gagaga, Gem-Knight, Ghostrick, Harpie, Number, Raidraptor, Rank-Up-Magic, Phantom Knight and Zubaba archetypes. You'll also find the new Super Quant archetype and a new card from the Forbidden series.
Back in stock: Goblins Drool, Fairies Rule!

New demos: Peptide, Back Spin
