New Arrivals 4/13/2016

By Alexander "Tile Gerrymandering" Smith

Kingdomino is a 2-4 player tile-laying game by the famous boardgame designer Bruno Cathala. While it may seem simple to select and place 1x2 square pieces to create a 5x5 kingdom, there is plenty of strategy choosing the right piece and deciding exactly where to put it. This game's pieces are also incredibly durable, which is good because we're going to be playing this one for a while.

Pyramids is a 2-5 player drafting and tile-laying game where players craftily assemble a pyramid, tomb, and obelisk with various colored stone tiles. Playing later in the turn order opens up extra actions, so you'll have to weigh your options carefully when playing this incredibly sleek game.

Hero Realms is the fantasy adaptation of the popular Star Realms deckbuilding game. In Hero Realms, you and up to three other players start with a basic deck of cards, but gain weapons and recruit monsters into your deck to better defeat your foes. We also have character packs available to customize your starting set of cards and make each player feel unique.

Twirk is a speed spelling game for 2-7 players aged 7 and up. In Twirk, players will rush to make words that meet the criteria of the cards laid out. Combinations might dictate certain letters or allow any consonant for parts of the word. There are millions of words out there, so how hard can it be to find the one that fits the prompt? Find out in Twirk!

Circuit Clay might just be the pinnacle of crafty, brainy toys. You can use this conductive clay to make all sorts of projects with LED lights that can be plugged right into the clay. With this, you'll learn about circuits and electricity while building UFOs, dragons, and whatever your heart desires! We've had kids take one look at this and sum it up with one word: "Awesome!"

Firefly: Big Money is an amazing new supplement for anyone who loves Firefly: the Game. Swap out the small currency pieces found in the game with beautiful, life-sized Federation bills. If money talks, well then these bills absolutely sing.

Smash Up: What Were We Thinking is the new Smash Up expansion that adds four new playable groups to the game. Will you rock out with Rock Stars, delve ancient temples with the explorers, curse those young whipper-snappers with the Grannies or just snuggle up with the Teddy Bears? The choice is up to you, and as is the nature of the game, you'll never have to just settle with one group of cards.

We have some new books in stock this week! If you love Lego, you'll want to check out The Lego Ideas Book and 365 Things to Do With Lego. These books contain hundreds of great ideas on how you can use your building bricks, and even if you don't make the models described in the book, you'll see new ideas that will get the brain going for your next big build.
