What's New at Labyrinth: 5/25/18

What's New at Labyrinth: 5/25/18
Hi guys! After the big explosion of stuff last week, this week is a little lighter - but what we do have is exciting!

Even dystopias need construction workers. Euphoria is a dystopian worker placement game with a unique twist. Your workers are represented by dice, with their faces signifying how aware they are of the horror of their existence. Smarter workers can accomplish more, but if they learn too much they might desert you! There are multiple paths to victory, and the tyrant who completes objectives fastest wins. Definitely worth checking out.

Back in stock after some time away is Orléans, the award-winning game of worker placement and deckbuilding. Set in the late Middle Ages, players trade, work, and skirmish for supremacy. With a list of awards too long to print here, now is a great time to try Orléans if you haven't had the chance.

Brand New Puzzle Set!

We just got in a whole slew of new Djeco puzzles! These gorgeous offerings include special, non-standard puzzles in the shape of an animal. The trumpeting elephant is a store favorite, but we also have an elegant seahorse and a sinuous octopus. Without edges or corners, they give a new sense of discovery to puzzling. Try them out!

Unspeakable Words
Unspeakable Words returns to Labyrinth! This wacky spelling game has you conjuring words of dark import and arcane power, but beware! Some powers are too great for mortal minds to wield, and careless spelling might drive you to madness!

Dragon Castle
Dragon Castle is an elegant game of strategy and construction. Players each construct their own villa by removing tiles from Dragon Castle, which stands in the center of the board. The game ends when the old Dragon Castle has been completely dismantled, while the grandest structure becomes the new Dragon Castle and wins the game!

Monster Match
Monster Match is a great speed game for families and younger gamers. Players roll two dice, which specify a body part and a number. Then players race to find a monster card that matches the roll! Quick to learn and tons of fun.

Funky Chicken
From the makers of Happy Salmon comes Funky Chicken, a game of speed and funk! Players race through a deck of goofy dance moves. The goal is to match cards with someone else, then do the dance together and discard your cards. First player to throw their deck away wins!

Chess Restock
Finally, we've gotten in a big restock of our chessboards. From roll-up tournament mats to glass and hand-crafted hardwood, we have something for every kind of player. Come see!

What's New At Labyrinth: 5/18
While we shelter inside from the rain, try checking out some of our new arrivals!

D&D 5e: Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes
Mordenkainen, greatest of wizards, master of mages, has spent his long life travelling the planes, amassing knowledge, power, and a great many enemies. He deigns now to share some of this knowledge with you in Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes, the new source book for D&D 5e! The book is bursting with new monsters, lore, and options for PCs. Learn of the vast, eternal Blood War between the devils and the demons, the secret origins of elvenkind, and the tragic origin of the duergar. Each section adds new tricks for DMs, and new subraces for PCs. At the back of the book, a Bestiary compiles new, horrific foes that must be thrown back!

Do you like microbiology? Or do you just like quirky games with a unique aesthetic? Either way, Cytosis is a game you shouldn't miss. A worker placement game, players each represent a single cell, competing to accumulate resources and increase their viability. The most robust cell survives!

Fae is a fascinating game of deception and worship. Each player plays as a hidden fae, an ancient spirit of the wilderness courting the druidic clans for worship. Players must score for themselves, while keeping their identity secret. If you like strategy and secrecy, check out Fae!

Lightseekers is an exciting new trading card game (TCG) from PlayFusion. Players control a unique hero card, which marshals their forces against opponents. For people who want to try a new TGC, or find Magic too expensive or complicated, this is an excellent option! We're happy to be hosting a Lightseekers Learn to Play event on June 10, 1pm to 4pm.

Wordsy is a high-speed spelling game of tension and vocabulary. Each round, 8 consonants are placed in the center of the board, each worth points. The first player to write a word flips a timer--everyone then has 30 more seconds to write a word! It's tense race, because if others can use more letters, they will score more!

Pokémon: Dawn/Dusk Necrozma Premium Collection
The new Pokémon Premium Collection is the ultimate collector's pack! Containing booster packs, a cool pin, 2 new foil GX cards and an amazing figurine, this box is incredible value for any Pokémon fan.

What's New at Labyrinth 5/12/18

What's New at Labyrinth 5/12/18
Hey all! The weather's getting sweaty out there, so come in and cool off with some of our new arrivals!

After months of anticipation we've finally landed Barenpark! In this ecology-construction game, players take different board chunks and assemble their very own Barenpark--that is, bear park--with victory being awarded to the most illustrious park owner. This one's a hot topic, so come in and take a look!

If you like spaceships, chaos, and howling at your friends, Spaceteam is the game for you. If you like quiet, sedate games, Spaceteam...likely isn't. Based on the massively popular video game, Spaceteam puts players into a cooperative scenario where everyone needs help to solve their particular spaceship-threatening problems. The result: tons of yelling, lots of fun.

Long Cow
Long Cow is an amusing game for families. Players assemble unnaturally long, patchwork cows out of cards, while messing with each other's stock and dodging alien abductions. Comes with a plastic "mooer!"

For a wild and goofy game of card combat, look no further than Squirmish. Players take control of a gross and ghoulish array of monsters and battle them against each other. The first one to knock out three opponents wins! With surprising strategic depth, this is a great game for all ages.

Arkham Horror LCG: The Forgotten Age
The Path to Carcosa has closed. Now, the Arkham Horror LCG transports us to a new time and place: An archaeological expedition into the deepest jungles of South America, seeking to uncover a forgotten Aztec city-state that will revolutionize our understanding of history. But strange things lurk in the shadows of the trees, and some knowledge is better left forgotten...welcome to the Forgotten Age.

Xenon Profiteer
Xenon Profiteer is a fascinating and unique game: A deck-builder in reverse. The goal of the game is to discard all cards from your hands besides the valuable Xenon you are attempting to distill. However, to aquire Xenon, you must pump in air, full of useless elements! This is a must-grab for any deckbuilder fan.

Color Fold
Color Fold is a logic puzzle with a new twist. Inside the box is a checked cloth mat, which is folded to form the base of the puzzle. Each new puzzle demands that only certian squares be revealed--can you fold the others away?

Game of Thrones LCG: Someone Always Tells
The sands of battle are shifting. Doran Martel has called his banners, and the House Martel marshals for war. Plots are afoot... and Someone Always Tells. This chapter pack, predictably, focuses on House Martel and the plot deck. Notably, its eponymous card gives House Martel the unprecedented ability to cancel an opponent's plot!

That's what's new at Labyrinth this week. See you next week, everyone!

What's New at Labyrinth: 5/4/2018

What's New at Labyrinth: 5/4/2018

May the Fourth be with you, everybody! It would be extremely convenient to have some new Star Wars products to announce today, but sadly there are not. Here's what we do have:

Have you ever dreamed of a simpler life? In Altiplano, players take on the roles of herders, miners and farmers in the South American Highlands. But the rustic life isn't as simple as you might hope-Altiplano is an in-depth game of competitive economics! Players buy and sell different kinds of goods, develop infrastructure, and try and diversify their operations to be the most successful merchant of the Altiplano plateau. If you like games of commercial strategy--or just llamas--this is the game for you.

Lorenzo il Magnifico: Houses of Renaissance
Houses of Renaissance is an expansion to the game of  patronage and politics, Lorenzo il Magnifico. It adds the components to support a fifth player, along with 20 new leaders and a new mechanic:  powerful House abilities. These additions create a more variable and diverse game, with many different paths to victory. A worthy pickup for any Lorenzo fan.

Cheeky Monkey Returns!
The relentlessly popular push-your-luck game in an adorable plush case is back! Cheeky Monkey is popular with all ages and a great game to play on the go. It's a consistent favorite at both our afterschool classes and Boozy Board Game Night. Come try it; you won't be disappointed.

For fans of art history, Manifesto is an excellent grab. With fifty-two beautiful portrait cards of iconic artists, players must group them into their respective schools of artistic thought. Each card also comes with a biography of its artist for extra educational value.

Wonderland is a quick-playing two-player card game that sees the players vye for control of the eponymous Wonderland as Alice and the Red Queen. Players build a map by placing cards, strategically taking control of critical areas. Magic items modify the value of terrain, keeping players on their toes until the very end.
Netrunner: Whispers in Nalubaale
Whspers in Nalubaale is the latest entry in the Kitara cycle, which sees runners and corps fighting for control of the rising Lake Victoria orbital elevator. In the shadows of the Sub-Saharan African League, anarchist runners, virus-building corps and even nascent AI all scrabble for power. Adding three copies of twenty new cards, this pack is a great addition for any faction.

That's all for this week. Check back in next week for another shift of What's New At Labyrinth!
